What if we approach with “this is my problem?”

In recent reading, messages from Seth Godin and Gary Vaynerchuk resonated with me and I was inspired to ask the question “how could I help by approaching challenges with the statement “this is my problem?”” What if we all cared more?

Too often in our daily lives, we encounter folks that avoid responsibility and accountability by simply stating “that is not my job” or “people are paid to do that.” How often do you hear this in your world? Worse, are you guilty of deferring or ignoring challenges / opportunities to contribute, by using these phrases?

Gary Vaynerchuk – Positivity Wins

Seth Godin’s blog post from Sunday August 27, 2017 was thought provoking and asks “what did you do when you had a chance to connect and to care?”

Seth’s Blog: The toxic antidote to goodwill

When we choose not to care, irreversible damage can result. As Seth notes:

“By not caring, by not expressing any empathy, this individual denied themselves their own humanity. By putting up a brick wall, they isolate themselves. Not only do they destroy any hope for word of mouth, they heap disrespect on someone else.”

In a recent Gary Vaynerchuk DailyVee episode, Gary is asked “What are the top 3 traits you look for in the personal side of skills?” His response is passionate as he mentions:

  1. Empathy
  2. Gratitude
  3. Humility

The linked video should start at the 7:00 minute point where Gary is asked the question. Treat yourself to watching his 1 minute response…and consider how this can be applied as we go through our days. I strongly believe this would make us all happier and more productive!

I am inspired to find ways to make a difference each day…so often this can be done with the smallest actions when we consider others, and simply choose to care. How might you help, and bring positivity to the world?
